Why we built this
We could keep the quality, or reach more students. Not both.
We are Miri and Yoomee. Miri applied to college with no one guiding her. Roughly 5,000 hours of chasing answers from strangers online, never sure which ones were right. She got into MIT and the Ivies. It should not have been that hard.
So we started answering questions on YouTube, for the student Miri had been. Enough of them wrote back that we built a firm: of the thousand-plus students we have advised, 92% were admitted to one of their top three schools. Not luck — the same judgment calls, made early and made right.
Then we ran into the wall every consulting firm hits. More than a hundred families ask us each month and we can take about five, because a consultant you would trust with a student's whole year is rare. And the ones who need us most were never going to pay $20,000 to $100,000 anyway.
So we stopped hiring our way out and put the system into software instead: our frameworks, our tiering rules, the judgment calls we make in a first session. Not a chatbot waiting for the right question, but the consultant we would have wanted.
Applying to an American college is really the process of figuring out who you are. We want the paperwork to take weeks instead of years, so the rest of it is yours.
